Or pictures and sentences - Letters and Sounds phase 3
Print out the pictures, laminate and cut up. Print out the sentences, laminate and cut up. Child has to read the sentence and then match it with the correct picture. You could also show a picture and ask the child to write the sentence that goes with it. For SEN children show the sentence and read together. Cut the sentence strip into individual words and scramble up. Children to try and rearrange. When rearranged then play word thief. Children to close their eyes whilst you steal a word. Do they know which word is missing? When the child can remember the sentence then do a dictation. Child to write the sentence on their whiteboard.

Rocket behaviour chart
Print, laminate and cut out the little smiley face. Lots of uses but very effective used when child is sitting on the carpet. Stick on the whiteboard or somewhere the teacher can reach easily and the child can see. The teacher can move the smiley upwards each time she catches the child sitting nicely, answering a question etc. Just as easily the smiley can move downwards. A small reward each time the smiley reaches the star. I like this because the teacher doesn't even have to speak. The child can visually see when she is pleased or not.
