Letter formation s

Laminate and use over and over for children to practise letter formation. To print at the size you want then click the image, right click and save to your computer and then insert into a word document or you can use the print preview button at the top of your page. It is easy to alter size etc there for printing.

Letter mat for Letters and Sounds SEN

I am finding my group are struggling to write down a sound when I say it. They just can't remember what it looks like or how to form the letter. I just made this very simple mat which I am going to laminate and use every day as part of quickwrite. I will say the sound and the child will find it on their mat and write it. I am hoping with lots of practise they will be able to do it soon without the mat. It covers all the letters from phase 2. I haven't done ck, ff, ll or ss.

g y confusion

Charlie has requested a poster to help a child who gets confused over g and y. Her idea was to have the g with a football to make it look like a goal. Here are a couple of posters to try and address that problem.

b d p q confusion

Children often get these letters the wrong way round when first learning to read and write. Also some children continue to do this well into their education at school. Here are a few posters and ideas that might help these children. I found these on the internet

b d p q posters and ideas

Some nice ideas from posters from the SEN TES forum I got this idea from Old Senco on that thread. I photographed my daughter's hands so thank you to my daughter.

Finger spaces in writing

As we all know in the early stage of a child learning to write they don't put finger spaces in their work.

Here are some resources to help, remind and encourage children to do that.

Spacemen Scroll down toward the bottom of the page to download clipart for sticking to a lolly stick.
Not sure if these will work because I haven't tried them out yet. If you click on the image to open and then right click and save to your computer. You can then insert into a word document and make them the size you want. The idea is to laminate and cut out. Child makes the rocket go along the page and the little spaceman makes the spaces in the child's writing.

A nice idea is to give a child a lollipop stick and let them decorate it themselves so as to take ownership of it.
