PDF maker
I use this free software for converting word documents to pdf files. It is very simple to use. Takes a few minutes to download the software.

Poster maker
This is good. Upload a photo and make it huge, then download the pdf files to print and stick together. The only drawback is you are limited to 1 megabyte for your original photo. Here is a poster of my cat which I experimented with. You can make it as many A4 sheets as you like. The generator gives you a rough guide to how big the finished poster will be.

If you don't have software that will resize your original image to below 1 megabyte then search online for a free image resizer, use websites like http://www.photobucket.com/ or use 'Paint'. Here are some instructions for resizing using paint.

Flash card maker
Spent a good hour this morning making keyword flash cards for my daughter who is doing A level Biology. You can put the keyword on the front and the definition on the back. Great for her revision. I thought it might be useful for someone so thought I would post it here.

Self assessment for young children in writing

I started putting this on the bottom of all the writing frames I make for the children with fantastic results. The children love being able to colour a star each time they remember to do something. When a child has finished writing we look at the work together and decide how many stars they should colour in.
Click on the image to open, right click and save to your computer. Insert as an image into a word document. Make your writing frame.

This looks like an excellent set of resources for assessing children's response to reading. Year one to year six from the Lancashire grid for learning.
