Christmas Advent

Print for each child in the class. They can draw a small Christmas picture for each day in December...or you could use as a sticker chart. They have to be good each day up until Christmas and could be rewarded a sticker each day.

Christmas card recycling day

A very Merry Christmas to all my readers.

Great to think we can turn all those Christmas cards into trees. Click the title above to find out how to do just that through the woodland trust.

You can personalise a message from Santa with information and photograph.

Letters and sounds - Santa's face sound mat

This could be used as an assessment tool. Children to put a piece of cotton wool on each sound they know. It could also be used as a sound mat so children can see how the letters are formed and as a reminder when writing independantly. You could also use it for games. Find the beginning sound for 'cat', find the beginning sound for 'dog', What sound comes at the end of 'tick'. It could also be used as a bingo game.

Another Handprint Santa from here, you will need to scroll down quite a bit. There are loads of interesting things on this site.

Here is a lovely angel image taken from here

Another idea for a Christmas angel is to use a photograph of your child's head along with a footprint for the body and handprints for the wings.

Something like this

You could even add a little poem

This little angel is special you see;
Because she is a part of me.
Her wings are my hands,
Her body my feet,
And on the tree she'll look very sweet.

This handprint Christmas tree image and idea is from here

Hand and Footprint reindeer from here

Handprint poinsettia from here

Handprint wreath from here

This is a lovely idea for a calendar. You could get children to do the different months and then scan them into a computer to make a calendar for all the children.

Here shows exactly how to make one of these calendars

How about a lovely handprint snowflake for little hands

Oh I just love this idea from littlegiraffes. Using a bauble, paint the childs hand white and the child holds the bauble to make little snowmen. Decorate and attach a little poem. The poem they give is out of date now but easy enough to change the year.

These aren't just five snowmen
As anyone can see.
I made them with my hand
Which is a part of me.
Now each year when you trim the tree
You'll look back and recall
Christmas of 2004
When my hand was just
this small!

All these would make great christmas cards no matter what the child's age is. We all like dipping our hands in paint don't we?
